BACON BRAT TOT-CHOS
This traditional style bratwurst is jam packed with house made bacon ground into it. What a better way to celebrate the bacon brat than by combining it with crispy tater tots, gooey cheese, sweet caramelized onions and tangy sauerkraut? I surely can’t think of a better way!
INGREDIENTS
Bacon Bratwursts
16oz Wheat Beer
Frozen Tater Tots
2 Yellow Onion, Sliced
3 Tbsp Butter
1 cup Swiss Cheese, Shredded
1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
1/2 cup Sauerkraut
1 bunch Scallions, Thinly Sliced
INSTRUCTIONS
First, place your wheat beer in a metal pot with your brats and place it on the stove on medium heat. Just make sure the sausages are completely covered. Simmer the sausages until they reach an internal temperature of 165*. Remove from the beer and cool to room temp.
Cook your tots, whether its in an air fryer, an oven, deep fryer, whatever you got that can make them crispy!
Place the diced onions and butter in a small pot or pan and place on medium heat. Cook them until they are soft, translucent and golden brown.
Slice the brats into 1/2inch rounds.
Time to build. Place your tots in a casserole plate (or similar oven-safe vessel), followed by your sliced brats, sprinklings of both cheeses evenly across the top and your caramelized onions.
Place it In the oven at 325* for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and gooey. Remove from the oven and top with your sauerkraut and sliced scallions, and enjoy! Hope you still have some of that tasty wheat beer left to go with it!
