GRILLED WISCONSIN BEER BRATS

INGREDIENTS

1 medium yellow onion, sliced
1 bottle pilsner or similar beer
martin potato buns
sauerkraut
brown spicy mustard

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat your grill - create two heat zones - direct and indirect. Place a cast iron skillet on the indirect heat section of your grill. Add the beer, onions, and brats to the pan. Close the grill, bring the contents to a boil and cook for 10-12 minutes or until they reach 145 degrees.

Once the brats reach the desired temperature, transfer them directly onto the direct heat portion of your grill to get some char. This should take about 3 minutes for each side. Let the internal temperature come up to 160 degrees. Pull and let them rest for a few.

While the sausages are resting, throw your buns down on the grill too to get some grill marks.

To build your sausage: bun, sausage, onions, sauerkraut and mustard.
